How can I convince my husband to slow down on fast food?
My husband is constantly eating pizza or burgers….any fast food. I keep trying to tell him that he needs to slow down but he thinks he is invincible and says "Don’t worry. I’ll always be healthy". I eat less fast food than him and my cholesterol is super high. I just want him to be healthy and not have anything bad happen to him. How can I convince him? I try to cook healthy at home but it doesn’t stop him.

The Wide World Of Pizza Toppings
One of the best things about making your own pizza is choosing the toppings. You can go for a traditional pizza like cheese or pepperoni, or you can go completely wild and try something you’ve never put on a pizza before.
For example, think of all the amazing options when you make a vegetarian pizza. You have all the normal choices like onions, peppers, mushrooms and olives, but you can also try something unusual. Slip in some fresh peas, thinly sliced squash or eggplant. Add some caramelized onion, roasted veggies and garlic for a delicious variation. Go on, be daring!
With all the different types of pizza you can make, your choice of toppings is unlimited. Obviously a thin crust pizza would need toppings that are not in danger of sliding off, while a thick deep dish pizza could handle a wider variety of flavorful additions.
In the early history of pizza, toppings were simple and limited. You may have gotten only tomatoes, or a Pizza Marghareta with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. The latter is named for Italian royalty and the toppings were chosen because they showed the colors of the Italian flag. If you’re not sure what to put on your pizza, use a theme. It is an age-old concept that works.
Cheese lets you truly create a masterpiece. Don’t settle for a single variety. Mix many different cheeses to add depth as they melt together. For example, for a traditional pizza, you may enjoy the flavors of mozzarella, provolone, parmesan and smoked gouda. If you want to broaden your horizons, think about goat cheese or adding the unique flavor of a blue cheese like Gorgonzola or Stilton. Cheese will set off the flavors of other ingredients.
Why not try some nuts on your pizza? Crunchy almonds, peanuts, cashews and pine nuts can all add a new dimension to your average, everyday pizza. Think about the ingredients you’ve already chosen and choose nuts that complement them. For example, pecans may go well with a gourmet pizza featuring flavors from the American South.
Some people have taken pizza to a whole new level by making it into dessert. A fruit pizza recipe makes a terrific dessert using the fresh seasonal fruits that are available. Bake a simple crust from sugar cookie dough and spread it with cream cheese. Add your fruit. You could even top it off with whipped cream or serve it with ice cream. Fruit also works on regular pizzas. Pineapple is often added; why not try some peaches or other fruit that bakes well?
Even traditional meat eaters can make something more of their pizza toppings. Think past pepperoni and sausage. Imagine a delicious venison pizza, or perhaps one with roasted duck breast. Try topping a pizza with some of your other favorite recipes like buffalo chicken or pot roast. Seafood pizzas are not common in most restaurants. You can easily make one with smoked salmon or tuna. Add shrimp, oysters or crab and serve it up as a new gourmet experience. Use a compatible sauce. If you can’t think of one, drizzle some oil over the top or sprinkle it with a bit of cheese. Throw all the rules out the window when you make your own pizza.

Dazzle Everyone With Their Own Individual Pizzas
It’s pizza night, and everyone is asking for their favorite. Unfortunately, no one agrees on a single recipe. How can you please everyone when they all want something different? With pizza, it’s easy. Make individual pizzas. Everyone can pick their own toppings and be pleased with their meal.
When you make individual pizzas, everyone can please their own tastes. Your preschooler that won’t eat anything but cheese is happy, as is your teenager that won’t eat anything but Hawaiian. The best part is that you don’t have to suffer through with these choices; you can make your own. Imagine choosing your own toppings without having to consider anyone else’s preferences!
Have you even considered what you may want on a pizza if you had the chance? You could try mixing prosciutto with parmesan cheese and arugula or perhaps a simple Margarita pizza. Either way, once you start making individual pizzas, you’ll find it doesn’t take any longer than making larger pizzas, but you get to indulge your own tastes.
Prepare everything ahead of time, for ease of your family and for your own sanity. Roll out all the crusts so everyone can make theirs together. Prepare all the toppings and set them on the dining table so everyone can access them easily. This will keep the mess and chaos to a minimum.
Everyone can follow their own pizza recipes or just play it by ear. If they like lots of cheese, they can put it on. If they prefer all meat or all veggie, let them go for it. Prepare by making a list of the toppings they want ahead of time so you can have them available. You don’t want to guess and waste money on items they won’t use.
It’s true that you can use store bought crusts or flat bread to make a quick pizza, but why would you? They are full of preservatives in order to keep them fresh. Many stores now sell fresh dough or you could actually make it yourself. Just pick a simple pizza dough recipe and go for it. It really is easier than driving to the store, plus it tastes great and there are no preservatives. Make extra to freeze for your next pizza night.
Next comes the sauce. Do you just set out a jar of spaghetti sauce and a spoon? Well, you could, but a quick homemade pizza sauce recipe will taste a lot better. A simple sauce only takes a little while to make. Pick up a few tomatoes, some herbs and let the stove do its work. You may want to consider other types of sauce as well. Not every pizza sauce is made from tomatoes. Try a white sauce, simple olive oil or even a plain crust without a sauce. Go ahead and experiment a bit.
Try out individual pizzas on your next pizza night. You’ll find it is very convenient and everyone is happy; even you. You’ll save a lot of money making them at home in comparison to taking everyone out. No one has to compromise on toppings and everyone is happy. Cleaning up afterwards is simple. If there are any leftovers, they can be eaten cold or rewarmed in the oven the next morning. You’ll soon hear everyone asking when their next pizza night will be.

Where can I find recipes for fast, healthy meals?
Being a college student with two majors and two jobs gets hectic. I want to lose about 10lbs but when I get home from a 15 hour day I find it’s easier to make mac & cheese or throw a pizza in the oven than to cook anything.
I usually have a few hours on Sat/Sun where I could cook but I don’t even know what I could make to last me all week that would help me lose.

Healthy Eating?
I’ve been a convenience-orientated eater all of my short adult life so far (23) since leaving my parents house when I was 18.
I almost never go to the grocery store, and when I do I buy frozen meals. Lately I just buy things at work, or go to the pizza/sub place or chinese places next door.
One, this isnt very healthy, two its way to expensive. I’ve been looking to revamp the way I eat and try to cook for myself a little.
I feel dumb saying this, but when I walk into a grocery store Im confused… I can’t even concieve making meals from all the different products!
Basically I’d like to know if anybody has any ideas.. or even better some resources for me to check out. Maybe even to hear what your own plan is for food. I work 8-10 hours out of the day so it would help for me to bring atleast some of it to work.
One idea I had was to buy a rice streamer and start making rice dishes… other than that I’m lost.
Any ideas? I know this is the broadest question ever.

Help finding the right diabetic cookbook.?
I work at a place were we take care of adults with disabilities. we recently found out that one of the women that we take care of is diabetic. She has to cut her carbs way down. less than 65 a meal and 20 a snack. She loves foods like lasagna, pizza with the thick crust, pasta. Now she hasn’t been able to eat any of that because the carbs are too high. The other staffs’ answer is to buy boxed meals like what she likes to eat because they have lower carbs. It breaks my heart because this woman will cry and say that she wants home made food. I want to find a diabetic cookbook that gives a wide varitey of low carb recipes for all meals ( breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and also some snack ideas. I want to take this book to my boss and show that we can still give this woman a good homecooked meal without going over her carb limit. I truly think this would make the woman that I take care of very happy, and hopefully cut down on some of the deppression, even if only a couple of us staff actually cook from the cookbook. Does anyone know of any cookbooks like this? I would really like to find one that lists the nutrential (mainly the carbs in each dish) value on the recipe page since we have to document what she ate and exactly how many carbs she eats. Please help me try to make a young woman’s day. It would really mean alot to me and her.

How do I get my diabetic friend to eat a healthier diet?
She has many ailments and has become diabetic as a result of all the meds she had to take over the course of 20 years. She was disgnosed as having diabetes about 3 years ago and ever since she’s been eating total crap. Cake, pizza, fried foods, chips, candy– basically everything a diabetic should never eat or eat in moderation. Her blood sugar is either high or low and she can’t control it. She also has to take insulin.I’ve given her great volumes of diabetic cook books, suggested therapy, cooked delicious healthy meals but I’m not getting through to her. What can I do? I don’t want her to die.
