Sound delicious? Or atleast edible? Im trying to learn to cook!?

This is a follow up to a previous question.

I asked about a teriyaki skirt steak im making and sides for it.

Well im new in this whole "cooking" thing and trying to learn and i think i have the menu planned out.. does this sound ok? any other suggestions?

Ive marinated the skirt steak since early today in a teriyaki/wine/garlic/other stuff mixture. I will broil it tonight (i dont have a grill) and cut against the grain to serve

I will have with that a side of yellow rice which i will cook in beef broth to give flavor.. and maybe throw some garlic in there too?

I will also have a side of caramelized onions to eat with the rice and steak.

I think it sounds pretty good! Agree/disagree?

Why do cooks use so much salt?

How come when you watch shows like on Food Network the cooks always kill everyrthing with salt? Especially considering the fact that there are so many americans that are or are supposed to be on low sodium diets, don’t these cheffs even consider that when they prepare these recipies on TV? Or maybe they should have a show or two that are dedicated to healthy cooking, not just low cal or low carb but healthy cooking like low fat and low salt. I have watched those low cal type shows as well as the low carb ones and they still drowned everything in salt, so I think they need a show that teaches people how to cook healthy without added salt and fats, show us what to use instead of the salt so that the food doesn’t all taste the same, what do you think? what do you use as a substitue to salt in your cooking? I am looking for new ideas other that onion and garlic powder, I don’t care for any of the Mrs. Dash type mixes so I am looking for single type spices that I can mix together myself.
I did not spell Chef wrong yahoo did!!!

    Chinese sauce recipe?

My family loves Chinese, but I have a problem getting enough sauce in the stir fry. I don’t like to overdo the soy sauce. I’d like recipes for beef & broccoli that provides the sauce with it (like for over rice), and maybe a garlic or oyster sauce. I’m not a very detailed cook, so simple recipes and ideas are wonderful.
